The new film from veteran queer filmmaker, Maria Beatty, produced by film provocateur, Abel Ferrara, Bandaged is a gothic feminist drama with a passionately erotic undertone. Since his wife's death, Arthur, a peculiar and severe surgeon, cloisters his teen daughter, Lucille, inside a strange mansion.
In desperation, Lucille attempts suicide to escape her father's domineering paternalism. Left with a severely scarred face, she becomes bed-ridden. A guinea pig for Dad's experimental skin graft, she slowly begins to resemble her deceased mother. To take care of her, Arthur hires Joan, an attractive nurse with a mysterious past. Lucille and Joan start a forbidden and passionate love affair, one that will revolutionise Lucille's life and offer a window for escape.
"Beatty's stunningly visceral cocktail of sex and bodily terror would surely merit the auteur, Cronenberg's seal of approval." Lauren Wissot
Bandaged will be followed by a Q&A session with Director Maria Beatty.
