This inspiring documentary tells a powerful and ultimately positive story of Jerusalem's only gay bar, SHUSHAN, despite its eventual closure. Established by Israel's own ‘Harvey Milk,' Sa'ar, who entertainingly struggles with many Hassidic Jews in the city council, SHUSHAN is a symbol of unity for both Palestinian Israeli and Jewish Israeli LGBT people.

The bar also features in Gevald (the award-winning short film preceding City of Borders) as the collective background for Samira and Ravit, a cross-community lesbian couple; Boody, a young Palestinian man struggling with his effeminacy in a Muslim community; and Adam, a young Jewish man partying for equal rights after his stabbing by an Orthodox Jew at Jerusalem's Pride march.

From its opening, following Boody secretly cross the barbed wire wall for a night out, to Samira and Ravit's political and romantic accord to raise a child despite their opposite desires, City of Borders explores this united LGBT community as a glorious example for the future of Israel and Palestine despite their struggles.
