When The Real World came to MTV in the 1990s, before Big Brother and all other reality hits, it had a powerful impact. In one of the early series, Pedro Zamora broke all taboos by not only being an out gay man on primetime TV, but also one who declared his HIV positive status. With Pedro, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning writer of Milk, does great justice to Zamora's ‘reality' story by putting it in the context of his wider biography.

In this fictionalised version of Zamora's story, director, Nick Oceano, respectfully acknowledges his young hero's considerable achievements in educating the wider public and government about the virus, showing how he led a massive following in campaigning for a clearer understanding about HIV and AIDS, before he tragically died at the age of 22.

"Dustin Lance Black has done it again. He's crafted an engaging biopic that mainstream audiences can enjoy." GLAAD

Hi. I'd love to see this film for several reasons. firstly i am interested in Spanish / Latino film, actors etc. I also like the aspect of a documentary style movie based on this story. Real people who are not afraid to stand up and be proud ,especially at that time, are inspiring and need to have their voices heard again and again. lvbrs@hotmail.com
