Jules Rosskam is a trans artist. In this, his first film, he uses a mixture of documentary and experimental styles to create a unique and brilliant film about gender, community and the dominance of social narrative in forming identity.

Presenting fictionalised scenes, mixed with intimate moments of diary filmmaking, interviews and spoken word performance, Rosskam weaves a complex narrative with great subtlety that will enlighten any viewer's knowledge of trans culture and life. It is a powerfully emotional film that speaks to anyone who has ever had to struggle with marrying their identity with the community they belong to.

"Arguably the best movie about gender I've ever viewed. It's remarkably intelligent, sensitive and powerful." Yujean Park, Feminist Review
