Film Qlub Screening:          Costa Brava

Monday 5th August

Light House Cinema

Continuing one of the GAZE’s most cherished and enduring collaborations, the festival and Dublin Film Qlub present a special screening of Costa Brava, Marta Balletbó-Coll’s glorious exemplification of independent guerrilla film-making.

Balletbó-Coll is a one-woman writing, filming, producing, directing, and acting army. Drama has been the staple of lesbian films for decades, but her hilarious tragi- comedies about contemporary clueless lesbianhood show another path: self- deprecating humor always gets the girl.

The wonderful Costa Brava, which is also an off-center celebration of Barcelona, is a lesbian counterpart to Allen’s Manhattan. Costa Brava is a tale of flourishing margins, cultural erotics, and domestic misalignments, protagonised by a noble antihero, perpetually baffled, armed only with a Giggle-ray gun. FQ.

Presented in Partnership with Film Qlub Dublin.
