Last year GAZE LGBT Film Festival gave its inaugural Vanguard award to former president Mary McAleese. The special Vanguard Award was created for a person, organisation or ally who has contributed to the LGBT community through their humanitarian efforts or through the arts.

We are delighted that Ailbhe Smyth has accepted our invitation to be this years very deserving recipient of the 2019 Vanguard Award. The award will be presented by broadcaster Ursula Halligan, in advance of the screening of The Ground Beneath My Feet at the Light House Cinema at 8.15pm on Saturday August 3rd.
