Socrates, a handsome and hard-working young man regularly fills-in for his mother at her cleaning job when she’s unable to work due to illness. Life isn’t easy, but they manage. But after her sudden death, Socrates is placed in legal purgatory — no adult guardians, but not yet old enough to live independently.

Struggling to get by, he develops an intense connection with another young man at a local junkyard. A powerful and confident debut by director Alex Moratto, Socrates received international acclaim upon its release, with Independent Spirit Award nominations, including for the stunning central performance by Christian Malheiros as the young man burdened with life’s hardships all too soon.
